Connecting Kingston employers with talented graduates
Kingston, Ontario – January 16, 2025 – Applications are now open for the 2025 Queen’s Career Apprenticeship: Kingston (QCAK) program. In partnership with the Canadian Career Apprenticeship Initiative (CCAI), this award-winning initiative connects recent graduates from the arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines within Queen’s University with local employers, offering up to $10,000 in funding to support hiring and on the job training efforts.
“The Queen’s Career Apprenticeship: Kingston program provides a streamlined pathway for employers to access skilled graduates who bring critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability to the workplace,” says Rob Tamblyn, Business Development Manager, Small & Medium Enterprises at Kingston Economic Development Corporation. “It’s an investment in our graduates and our community, ensuring Kingston businesses remain competitive and innovative. The program also provides a seamless transition from education to meaningful employment, with opportunities for Queen’s graduating students to stay in Kingston and launch their careers.”
Since its inception in 2018 with Kingston being the first pilot community in the country, the program has successfully launched over 50 careers in Kingston and contributed more than $2.7 million in new payroll.
“I appreciated the support to offset onboarding and training resources,” says Kostas Doulas, Broker of Record, Rogers & Trainor. “Our apprentice was bright, caught on quick and was an asset to the company. It’s a great program to help employers who are recruiting and to keep talent and students in Kingston.”
