The World’s Leading Resource for Climate Solutions
JOIN moderator Dan Hendry with Kingston Frontenac Public Library, Sustainable Kingston, and community friends as we present Dr. Jonathan Foley, Executive Director of Project Drawdown, the world’s leading resource for climate solutions.
About the Event:
Project Drawdown offers hope, help and a plan to become future-ready TODAY. Dr. Foley is a renowned climate scientist, sustainability expert, and educator, and his work focuses on finding solutions to sustain the climate, ecosystems, and natural resources we all depend on. He will welcome questions on what we can do today following his talk.
Outcomes:
You will gain valuable insights into what all of us can accomplish together now: What we think got us to where we are now. What we think next, knowing we are all interconnected parts of a complex web of life and aligning climate decisions and actions with the best scientific guidance, will get us where we need to be. The Drawdown Roadmap illuminates a climate-solutions path for individuals, homes, neighbourhoods, cities, states, provinces, businesses, service clubs, non-profits, investors, and governments.
Project Drawdown has developed a list of 93 technologies and practices that can reduce greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere and are currently available, growing in scale, financially viable, able to have a net positive impact, and quantifiable under different scenarios. Every decision we currently make is a climate decision. What we choose to eat, how we transport ourselves, how we manage our homes, what we buy, how we work and what work we choose. We don’t need perfect decisions; we do need BETTER decisions. It’s our time for action.
Dr. Foley’s presentations have been featured at hundreds of venues, including TED, the Aspen Institute, the World Bank, the National Geographic Society, and the Commonwealth Club. He has published over 140 scientific articles, including many highly cited works.
