Board of Directors Recruitment
The Kingston Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors is currently accepting applications for two new member positions to serve for a three-year term commencing in January 2025.
Kingston Economic Development works collaboratively with the City of Kingston as well as local and regional partners to leverage Kingston’s unique assets to create jobs and investment. The Corporation’s Integrated Economic Development Strategic Plan lays the foundation for strategies, tactics and targeted activities that will continue to build on these assets to support start-ups, existing business growth, and attraction of new domestic and foreign direct investment opportunities in our community.
The Board of Directors is represented by a diverse group of individuals – eight community members at large and four members of City Council – who bring their respective experiences, interest and ideas together to shape and support the Corporation’s strategic and policy direction. The Board of Directors is a forward-thinking governance body which provides progressive leadership management to support and advance the organization. Directors are expected to actively participate in monthly board meetings as well as committee work, and special meetings scheduled (as required) throughout the year.
Interested applicants will preferably have a post-secondary education or relevant life experience, an understanding of current business issues and previous board experience. A background in one or more of the following sectors is desirable but not exclusive to: Health Innovation & Life Sciences; Sustainable Manufacturing; Creative Industries.
Board Member Qualifications
Qualifications under the Corporations Act require that Directors be:
- 18 years of age or older;
- a resident/worker within the City of Kingston;
- be Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- and not be an undischarged bankrupt.
Kingston Economic Development Board of Directors Bylaws
Applications will be open until November 1, 2024, at 11:00am. Applications will be reviewed by the Kingston Economic Development Corporation’s Human Resources & Nominations Committee after the application period has ended. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be conducted in early November. All individuals will be contacted regarding the status of their application.
